On October 15, I was presented with the Greater Columbus Arts Council's Emerging Arts Leader award. I was nominated by the creative and inspiring Christine Deye, and was happy to be surrounded by a room full of artists and leaders who are just as deserving of the honor.
I wrote my speech on the back of the program, and went to the stage to receive my award, a photograph by Columbus' beloved Denny Griffith. Mayor Mike Coleman (who last saw me at the opening of The Hills Market Downtown, when I learned a valuable lesson about gravity and heels with bowties) handed it over and asked me what Stitch & Bitch was. I wasn't prepared for the question, and I'm not sure that he was prepared for the answer.
Mike, you're welcome to bring a beer and some knitting needles to Wild Goose once you're retired.
